Dwayne Wade admits he fathered a 'son' during break with Gabrielle Union

Yesterday news broke that Miami Heat point guard Dwayne Wade got a well-known Miami groupie pregnant while he and fiancee Gabrielle Union were on a 'break' early this year. The reports are true. The basketball player says he has nothing to hide and admits his new son was conceived during the few weeks he and girlfriend of 4 years actress Gabrielle Union were on a break. He said his son was born in late November.

Dwayne yesterday addressed the report during a press conference before the Heat game where he was asked about his new baby. He said:
“I’m in the public eye, so obviously that’s a part of it. But, it’s kind of … as I’ve always done my whole life, is always focus on what’s most important to me and my family, and that’s being a great father. I’ve always tried to show my importance in my kids’ lives and it doesn’t change now. But, yeah, I had a time, in our pain and our hurt, (but) a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy. So, I’m moving on.”
He said he and Gabby worked through the issue privately as a couple and that she was aware of the child before their engagement in December. Dwayne also has two sons with his ex-wife.

Hmmmm.. this doesn't sound right to me. They were on a short 'break' and he went and got another woman pregnant? How many of you females would have accepted his ring? Would you stay with a man who had a child with another woman during your relationship?????

China doctor tried for trafficking babies

Zhang Shuxia admitted to selling seven babies to traffickers, state media said

A Chinese obstetrician is on trial for stealing newborn babies and selling them to child traffickers, a court and state media report.

Zhang Shuxia was accused of selling seven babies. She told the parents their infants were sick, and convinced them to give them up, reports said.

Ms Zhang admitted the charges in a court in Fuping, Shaanxi province.

The case emerged after two parents went to the police, suspecting their child had been abducted.

Ms Zhang sold seven babies to child traffickers between November 2011 and July 2013, including a pair of twins, an indictment posted on Weinan Intermediate People's Court's verified microblog said.

Six of the babies were rescued, but one baby girl died.

Ms Zhang worked in Shaanxi's Fuping Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital.

Gambler rewards man who returned $300K left in cab

A poker player who left $300,000 in the back seat of a Las Vegas taxi made good on his promise this week, handing over a $10,000 reward to the honest cabbie who returned the stash.

Yellow Checker Star Cab Company CEO Bill Shranko confirmed Friday that Gerardo Gamboa had been paid by the poker player. The cab company also honored the driver's good deed by naming him employee of the year, awarding him $1,000 and giving him a gift certificate to a Las Vegas steakhouse.

It's unclear how Gamboa plans to spend the belated Christmas gift. He did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press on Friday.

The tale, first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, started Monday when Gamboa made a pickup at the Bellagio casino. A hotel doorman noticed a brown paper bag on the back seat and handed it to him; Gamboa thought it was candy.

The driver said he had another passenger by the time he began wondering what kind of chocolates were in the brown paper bag. He peeked inside at a traffic light and spotted the cash.

"I told my passenger, 'You are my witness on this,'" the 13-year taxi driver told the Las Vegas Sun, "and then I immediately called my dispatcher."

Gamboa took the six bundles of $100 bills to the company's main office, where Las Vegas police and casino officials linked it to the poker player.

It took several hours to verify the identity of the owner and return the cash. Authorities aren't identifying the poker player.

Before he learned about the anonymous gambler's gift, Gamboa said he wasn't in it for the money.

"If he doesn't give me anything, that's OK," Gamboa told the Sun earlier this week. "I'm not waiting for any kind of return. I just wanted to do the right thing, and I appreciate what the company did for me."

Robert Owen Rankin, the victim's 22-year-old son, was arrested and charged with murder. Rankin and his father were outside the house when police arrived.

China formally eases one-child policy

China's top legislature has formally adopted a resolution easing the country's one-child policy, the state news agency Xinhua reports.

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed a resolution allowing couples to have two children if either parent is an only child.

A proposal to abolish re-education through labour camps was also approved.

The changes in policy were announced following a meeting of top Communist Party officials in November.

The reforms, which came at the end of a six-day meeting of the congress, have already been tested in parts of the country.
They needed formal legislative approval to be put into effect.

Christmas Tragedy Occurs In Lagos And Cross River States: Leaving 9 Dead

It was a bloody Christmas celebration in Lagos and Cross River states as no fewer than nine persons were killed in auto accidents on Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning.

Five people comprising a baby, her mother, two brothers and a driver died on Wednesday in the Lagos State accident, while four youths died in the Cross River accident.

In Lagos, our correspondent learnt that apart from the five people that perished on Christmas day, another lady suffered a fracture after a container which was on an articulated truck fell on a commercial bus on Alaba Suru Road in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun area of Lagos.

Eyewitnesses said the baby, her mother, the two brothers and the bus driver, who were victims of the accident, were returning from the Lagos Island.

Mikhail Kalashnikov, the Russian gun designer whose AK-47 rifle became the weapon of choice for many national armies and guerrillas around the world, died on Monday, the Kremlin announced on its website.

Kalashnikov designed his first machine gun in 1942 after suffering injuries as a tank commander for the Soviet Union's Red Army during World War II, but it wasn't until 1947 -- after years of tweaks -- that the AK-47 was introduced for Soviet military service.

BlackBerry reports huge quarterly loss

BlackBerry Ltd, which gave up on a plan to sell itself last month, reported a massive quarterly loss on Friday, as sales of its smartphones shriveled and it booked asset impairment charges and inventory writedowns.

The company, which announced a five-year partnership with Foxconn Technology Co Ltd to develop and manufacture a handset for Indonesia and other emerging markets, conceded that its biggest challenge was still in its core handset business.

"While our enterprise services, messaging and QNX embedded businesses are already well-positioned ... the most immediate challenge for the company is how to transition the devices operations to a more profitable business model," said John Chen, who last month was named chief executive officer.

Chen has said he will not jettison the hardware operation and is counting on strong growth in its service business that manages smartphone traffic on the internal networks of corporate and government clients.

BlackBerry sold about 4.3 million handsets in the third quarter ended November 30, including some shipped to suppliers earlier. Older BlackBerry 7 models account for about 3.2 million of the smartphones.

Philippines mayor among 4 killed in shooting at Manila airport

A gunman opened fire outside a terminal at Manila's main airport on Friday, killing the mayor of a southern Philippines town, two members of his family and a young child, authorities said.

Striking amid the bustle of pre-Christmas travel, the attack wounded five people and caused panic among passengers caught up in the chaos.

Gun crime and political violence occur with grim frequency in the Philippines. But the shooting Friday at Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport appeared particularly brazen.

Initial reports suggested the shooting may have been carried out by more than one attacker. But police said they believe a lone gunman sprayed bullets at the mayor and his entourage before fleeing on foot and being picked up by an accomplice on a motorcycle.

The dead include Ukol Talumpa, the mayor of Labangan, a town in the southern Philippines, and his wife and 28-year-old niece, said Supt. Jose Erwin Villacorte, director of the Manila region's Southern Police District.
An 18-month-old child, believed to have been struck by a stray bullet, was also killed, Villacorte said.

Lottery winner giving all his winnings to charity

A Canadian man who won a 40 million Canadian dollar lottery prize last May has said that he is going to give all his winnings away.

Tom Crist said the money would be donated to charities that he supported over the next few years through a family foundation.

Mr Crist (seen standing on the right next to his son) said that he decided to give the money away in memory of his wife, who died of cancer.

Novak Djokovic appoints Boris Becker as head coach

World number two Novak Djokovic has appointed six-time Grand Slam winner Boris Becker as his head coach.

The 26-year old Serb, who has also won six major titles, will start work with Becker before the Australian Open, which starts on 13 January.

Djokovic's long-time coach Marian Vajda will continue as part of his team.

"I am proud Novak invited me to become his head coach. I am sure we can achieve great things together," said former Wimbledon champion Becker, 46.

Nigerian Senate BANNED Same Sex Marriage In Nigeria

The Senate yesterday unanimously passed a harmonised Conference Committee report banning same sex marriage in Nigeria, a development that defies stiff western opposition to the ban.
Again, the Senate President, David Mark called on President Goodluck Jonathan to quickly sign the Bill into law.

However, the child s¤x victim reportedly claimed to be in love with the elderly man and the court ruled the pair have a ‘romantic relationship’.
The case has been referred back to the Catanzaro court for a retrial

Pope shares his birthday breakfast with homeless

Four homeless people, one of them bringing his dog, helped Pope Francis celebrate his 77th birthday at the Vatican Tuesday.

They live on the street in the Rome neighborhood just outside the Holy See's walls and were invited by the Vatican official in charge of alms-giving to attend the morning Mass which Francis celebrates daily at the hotel where he lives on Vatican City grounds, the Vatican said.

One of the men held his dog as he was presented to Francis after the guests chatted following Mass.

The Vatican also said Francis invited his household help to join him in a "family-like" atmosphere, and he spoke of them one by one during his homily.

ASUU finally calls off strike

The news filtered in yesterday but it wasn't confirmed. It's now been confirmed. After more than five months, the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) has officially called off its strike action starting from today December17th. They announced their decision at a press conference today

The strike was called off after a meeting in Minna, Niger State yesterday, days after ASUU signed a new agreement with the Federal Government. They have ordered lecturers to resume immediately. Congratulations, students!

British police knock down Princess Diana murder claim

There is "no credible evidence" to support a claim that the British military was involved in the deaths of Princess Diana, her boyfriend and their driver, according to London's Metropolitan Police.

The allegation first surfaced in August, roughly 16 years after the woman who would now be a royal grandmother died in a Paris car crash. Officers were tasked with looking into whether there was any truth to it.

"Every reasonable line of enquiry was objectively pursued in order to fully evaluate any potential evidence," police said in a statement released overnight Monday.

"The final conclusion is that whilst there is a possibility the alleged comments in relation to the SAS's involvement in the deaths may have been made, there is no credible evidence to support a theory that such claims had any basis in fact."SAS is short for Britain's elite Special Air Service.

Tottenham have sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas in the wake of Sunday's 5-0 Premier League thrashing by Liverpool.
The loss was the club's worst at White Hart Lane in 16 years and left them seventh in the table - eight points behind leaders Arsenal.Former Chelsea boss Villas-Boas, 36, took over at Tottenham in July 2012."The club can announce that agreement has been reached with head coach Andre Villas-Boas for the termination of his services," said a Spurs statement.
"The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties."
Villas-Boas was dismissed by Chelsea in March 2012 after just over eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge, and he was hoping to rebuild his reputation at Tottenham.
He won 53.7% of his league games in charge, which is the highest of any Spurs manager since the Premier League era began in 1992.
